Samy Ameziane (Arabic: سامي أمزيان; born 6 January 1979) is a French comedian and basketball player.
Samy Ameziane was born in Saint-Denis France, of Algerian parents. He moved to the United States to study at the University of Connecticut were he was a player on the Connecticut Huskies men's basketball team. In Connecticut his name was often spelled "Sami".
After graduation, Ameziane tried Slam Poetry then decided to try his hand at comedy. Ameziane currently has a one-man (solo) comedy show currently running in Paris which sells out a 1,000-seat theatre every night. His unique act covers the complicated relationship between France and United States of America. He learned about the ins and outs of international relations while playing basketball at the University of Connecticut with teammates who have since gone on to play in the NBA (National Basketball Association). Ameziane earned the nickname "The Count of the Ghetto" in France because of the way he dressed.
